Our Church’s Ministry Principle
We are a congregation of believers dedicated to the glory of God, prayerfully providing and promoting worship, fellowship, education, evangelism/missions, and diaconal ministry to see many people become disciples of Jesus Christ, incorporated into the nurturing and serving fellowship of the church, and living obediently before Him in the world. (1 Cor. 10:31; Matthew 28:19-20).
Since our Lord taught us that we could do nothing without Him (John 15:5) and demonstrated the value of prayer through His example (Mark 1:35), we desire and intend to be diligent in prayer as individuals, families, and as a congregation, as we seek to accomplish the following goals (Ephesians 6:18, Philippians 4:6, Colossians 4:2, 1 Thessalonians 5:17):
Our Church’s Objectives
(a) Worship: The Church of Jesus Christ’s primary function is worship. The church’s perpetual activity will be in its perfect form in paradise (Revelation 5:12). We are commanded to worship God alone, from the heart, with an accurate understanding of who He is and what He has done (Deuteronomy 5:7, Psalm 95:6-7, Mark 7:6-7, John 4:23-24). Therefore, on each Lord’s Day, it is our desire and intention to gather joyfully in the worship of God as God’s covenant people, to hear His Word read and proclaimed, and to celebrate His love, power, and blessings so that God is worshiped in spirit and truth and that people meet God and are built up in Christian faith (Psalm 96, John 4:24, Hebrews 10:25).
(b) Friendship: Our fellowship with God is the source of our fellowship, and genuine fellowship with one another always results in a deeper relationship with God. We are commanded to demonstrate genuine concern for one another’s advancement in grace and wisdom. We are to demonstrate this concern through our words and actions of encouragement, as well as gentle correction, to help one another grow in Christ (Ephesians 4:15-16, Hebrews 10:23-25). Each believer has a responsibility to fulfill following their strengths and talents for the body’s edification. The Bible tells us to avoid the heinous sin of division (Proverbs 6:16,19) by following Matthew 18:15-17’s three-step approach for dealing with one another (cf. Matthew 5:23-24). We sustain fellowship when we abstain from backbiting, talebearing, and gossiping publicly or privately. Our goal is to assist everyone in the meeting and make new friends. Everyone feels accepted in the church, is integrated into the congregation, and experiences the joy of Christian fellowship (John 15:13, Romans 2:6, Acts 2:42). Our purpose and intention are to assist new members in being adopted and prayerfully care for one another in love so that each member feels a sense of belonging and experiences Christian love, encouragement, and mutual support (Galatians 6:1-10).
(c) Education: It is our intention and desire to provide life-related biblical instruction and training to adults, youth, and children to lead us to personal faith in Jesus Christ, to assist us in living a grateful and obedient life for Christ in all areas of life, and to increase our understanding of God, the Christian faith, and our church (Deuteronomy 6:4-9, Colossians 3:12-17, 1 Timothy 4:1-14).
(d) Evangelism and Missions: It is our responsibility and privilege to proclaim and live the gospel, which is God’s saving power. That should be done both verbally and physically, locally and internationally, so that the nations may praise Him. The Lord has the power to convert the lost, but He employs human tools to spread the gospel (Romans 1:16; 10:14-15). It is our desire and intention to encourage and enable one another to witness where we are and to share with others our faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord through our congregational activities and as individuals in the public and private life in the hope that people be attracted to Jesus Christ, believe in Him as Savior and Lord, and become faithful members of His church (Acts 1:8, Romans 10:8-15, 1 Peter 2:9-12). Our hope and intention are to encourage and support mission work by prayer and financial support. We will promote contact between missionaries and us to be aware of our support and be informed about their work (Acts 13:2-3, Acts 18:22-23; 21:17-26).
(e) Diaconal Ministry: It is our desire and intention to develop and utilize our resources and gifts, as well as the financial and material resources that God has bestowed upon us, to demonstrate God’s mercy and love, alleviate human suffering, and improve the quality of life for individuals in our congregation, community, and the world (Micah 6:8, Matthew 25:31-46, James 1:22-27; 2:15-17).
